Minnie May Faulkner |
Vernon Chauncey Ellis was the son of John Fremont Ellis and Jennet White. He was born February 12, 1884 in Rockford, Winnebago Cty, IL. He married November 12, 1902 in Rockford to Minnie May Faulkner. She was born in 1881 in Rockford and died young on September 27, 1909 in Rockford. This was most unfortunate as she left three small children (see picture at right taken on her funeral day of the children.) Interestingly, a pattern of early maternal deaths emerges. John Fremont's mother passed away when he was just 14 years old. His wife and Vernon's mother passed away quite young leaving her sons to be raised by relatives. And the pattern continued when Vernon's daughter Janett died when her youngest was just 8 years old. Vernon was an interior and exterior decorator and painter for many years. In earlier years he painted buggies in Rockford, Illinois. He was a gentle man who loved children. His hobbies included making children's furniture and painting pictures. Vernon and Minnie had three children:
In 1910 Vernon took a second wife, Mary E. McFalls August 20, 1910 in Rockford, IL and they had one daughter, Juanita Mae Ellis who was born in 1928 in Sterling, Whiteside Cty, IL. She died in April 1990 in Sterling, IL. Vernon is buried at IOOF Cemetery in Sterling, IL.
