I was wondering if you would have
any information on James Olin, who was born 7 Nov. 1773, East Greenwich,
Kent Co., Rhode
Island, son of Giles and Anna (Reynolds) Olin. According to some
data that I have found on the Internet and the IGI, he married
Sarah Ellis (parent's unknown) about 1804 who was "of" Schoharie, Schoharie,
New York. Children:
Zebulon Utter, 1805; Esther, 1807
(my line) born in Schoharie
Co.
Roxanna, 1808; born in Schoharie Co.
Giles, 1810, born in Schoharie Co.
Henry, 1812 born in Kortright, Delaware Co., NY
Hiram W., 1817, born in Kortright, Delaware Co., NY.
According to another source from
the Internet and the IGI, James Olin, same birth date as above, married Esther
Reyneld, "of" Western Oneida Co., NY (parent's unknown) with
children: Julia,1800, born Western, Oneida Co., NY; Roxanna O.,
1808, born Schoharie Co., NY and Henry, 1812 born Cartwright,
Delaware Co., NY. This source also has that James was born in
Shaftsbury, Bennington Co., VT. There was a James Olin in an 1800
Western, Oneida Co., NY census with 1 female, -10. Something does
not jive here. I know that probably both James's are the same
person and probably he had only 1 wife so which is the correct
one?
Esther Olin married Charles Eaton, May 1824, Virgil, Cortland
Co., NY. Their children are: James Olin Eaton; Sarah Jane; Jeanette
Harriet; Hiram W. and Francis E. They had an older daughter, name
unknown, born and died in 1825. James Olin came to Tompkins Co.,
NY between 1810 and 1820. Eventually Charles and Esther also moved
there and James Olin was in their household in the 1850 census.
It said that he was born in Rhode Island. I do not have the death
date of James or Sarah or their daughter, Esther (she was in the
1870 Tompkins Co., census)
Any information that you might have for James Olin and Sarah
Ellis, I certainly would appreciate, as well as any information
for the rest of Giles Olin's children. There are only 2 listed
in the Olin Family Web site.
