JAMES MARTIN FAMILY

 

Captain James Martin was the son of Ebenezer Martin and W. Tabithy Smith. He was born on February 24, 1776 and married on September 1801 to Caroline Pike probably in Oneida County, NY. He died August 15, 1861 and is buried at Sharon, Henry County, Illinois. Captain Martin saw action at the Battle at Sacketts Harbor in the War of 1812. Caroline Pike b: May 19, 1783 Floyd, New York m: September 13, 1801 probably in Oneida Co., NY d: November 28, 1831 in New York State Burial: Colossee, NY Father: Jarvis Pike. Another sources says that Caroline died August 15, 1861 in Sharon, Litchfield Cty, CT.

They had the following children:

Lucinda Martin born April 19, 1803 married Caleb Pierce Lamphere August 7, 1820.

James A. Martin born March 11, 1809 at Western, NY and died December 20, 1879 in Sharon, Litchfield Cty, CT (other source says that James was born October 8, 1804, died October 20, 1878)

Edward Martin born March 11, 1809 at Western, Oneida County, New York, m. Chloe Hopkins and died August 18, 1873.

Captain James Martin remarried after the death of his first wife, Caroline, to a woman whose last name was Thayer about 1832 in New York State. Their children:
