JONAS POTTS, JR. FAMILY

 

Jonas Potts, Jr. was of Pennsylvania and died in 1814 in Georgetown, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. He was married twice first to Mary and second to Mary Heckathorn. (or vice versus!) Mary died in 1812/13 in Georgetown, Beaver, Pennsylvania and was buried at Phillips Island same county. This Jonas was a blacksmith by trade and purchased 270 acres from his half-brother David in Loudoun County, Virignia where he later removed to. Later he and his wife, Mary sold 122 of those acres to James Thomas on May 9, 1761. Jonas obtained a patent from "the proprietors office of the northern neck of Virginia," on August 20, 1761 for a tract of land on or about Round Hill. Jonas and his first wife, Mary had the following children:

David Potts born 1742 married Milly Adams, their children: Milly, Fanny, Abby, James and David. Potts. He was a Revolutionary War Vet.

Jonathan Potts born 1744 in PA, married to Elizabeth English in 1788 and died July 4, 1831 in Jefferson, OH.

John Potts married to Susanna Hibbens and died 1825 in Carroll, OH. Their children: [Mary],Jonathan, Jonas, John, Nathan, James, David, [Ruth], [Rebecah], Thomas, Sarah, Deborah and Margaret Potts. Revolutionary war vet.

Jonas Potts born in Loudon VA married Hannah and died in 1833 in Hanover, Washington County, PA. Their children: David, Jesse, Jonas, Samuel, Anna and another daughter.

Nathan Potts born July 10, 1764 in Loudon, married January 2, 1793 in Loudoun to Mary Chamblin, daughter of Aaron and Monica Chamblin. Their children: Mary, William, Nancy, Jonathan, Sarah, Amelia, Nathan, Lorenzo and Frederick Potts.

Joshua Potts born February 4, 1769 in Loudoun, married August 3, 1797 to Milly Suver and died 1850 in Lawrence County, IL. Their children: John, Eliza, David, Joshua, and Harriet Potts.

Children by his second wife, Mary Heckathorn:

Thomas Potts married Mary Martin.

Noah Potts born 1772 in Loudoun, died February 4, 1856 married Barbara Heckathorn about 1800. She was the daughter of George Heckathorn and was born in 1780 and died August 1855. Their children: Sarah, Thomas, Polly, James, Rachel, David, Robert and Rebecca Potts.

Daughter Potts married Richard Hart.
