CLIFTON FAMILY
Lydia J. Bolen was born May 2, 1848
in Sharon, Henry County, Illinois to Lydia
Potts and Thomas Bolen. She married first to Elias Clifton
on January 1, 1866 at Morrison, Whiteside County, IL. He was born
November 14, 1839 at Montgomery, Indiana and died April 6, 1876
at Sharon, Henry County, IL. They had the 
following
children:
Gertrude Clifton born August 10, 1866 at Sharon, Henry County,
IL, died August 11, 1866.
Clarissa Clifton was born March 17,1867 at Sharon, Henry County,
IL and died March 17, 1871.
Thomas E. Clifton was born February 22, 1869 at Sharon and
died June 4, 1896.
Pearl Clifton was born December 28, 1871 at Sharon and died
August 29, 1872.
Myrtle R. Clifton was born January 26, 1874 at Sharon and
married October 1, 1889 to Fred Cole and died July 1949. It is
sad to think that she was the only survivor of these 5 children.
She and her husband, Fred, had two daughters:
Ruth Cole born January 8, 1912 married James Sullivan.
Rena Cole
Elias died just ten years after they were married and Lydia
was left with a large family. She found for her second husband,
our ancestor, Fayette Martin.
