Barbara Olin was the daughter of John Olin II and Susannah Pierce. She was b: September 4, 1748 in East Greenwich, RI. She married Valentine Whitman the son of Valentine Whitman and Rebecca Jamain. Rebecca is believed to have been a French Huguenot.
Their son was William Whitman b: April 27, 1770, d: June 17, 1854, m. Ruth James.
James Whitman b: January 4, 1791, d: 1858 m: Sab(r)ina Messenger. Sabina was thought to be a descendant of the Joseph Messenger family. However, according to the Whitman genealogy books it is believed that Sabina may have been most likely adopted by a Messenger. (This information was from a book which took some of it's original genealogy from the half-sister of Lovina.)
